About the role
1Password is growing. We’ve surpassed $400M in ARR and we’re continuing to accelerate, earning a spot on the Forbes Cloud 100 for four years in a row and teaming up with iconic partners like Oracle Red Bull Racing.
About 1Password
At 1Password, we’re building the foundation for a safe, productive digital future. Our mission is to unleash employee productivity without compromising security by ensuring every identity is authentic, every application sign-in is secure, and every device is trusted. We innovated the market-leading enterprise password manager and pioneered Unified Access Management, a new cybersecurity category built for the way people and AI agents work today. As one of the most loved brands in cybersecurity, we take a human-centric approach in everything from product strategy to user experience. Over 180,000 businesses, from Fortune 100 leaders to the world’s most innovative AI companies, trust 1Password to help their teams securely adopt the SaaS and AI tools they need to do their best work.
If you're excited about the opportunity to contribute to the digital safety of millions, to work alongside a team of curious, driven individuals, and to solve hard problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you. Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future.
Enterprise Systems at 1Password owns the tools and systems the company runs on. We centrally select, administer, integrate, and govern Enterprise Tools so that they work together as an interconnected ecosystem that shapes how 1Password operates. The team is charting new territory: centralizing ownership of company tools, building cross-functional integrations, and enabling the company to adopt new technologies, including AI, responsibly and strategically.
The Senior Enterprise Systems Engineer is a key technical contributor on this team. You'll own the lifecycle and roadmap for a portfolio of Tier 1 enterprise tools, work closely with the team's Staff Engineer, and partner with Security, Finance, Legal, and business teams. You'll also bring practical AI and automation skills to your work. If you enjoy building scalable systems, solving workflow problems with automation, and raising the bar for those around you, we want to hear from you.
How we’re using AI today
Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.
This is a remote opportunity within the US or Canada.
What we're looking for:
• 5+ years of IT or enterprise systems experience, with a track record of building and supporting enterprise systems at scale.
• Hands-on expertise administering, integrating, and optimizing core enterprise platforms such as Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, Notion, Jira, Asana, or similar.
• Experience with identity and access management concepts, including SSO, SCIM provisioning, and access reviews (Okta preferred).
• Experience with workflow automation and integration tools such as Tines, Okta Workflows, Workato, or APIs and low-code/no-code platforms.
• Practical experience with AI-enabled productivity tools or platforms (e.g., ChatGPT Enterprise, Dust, Claude, Glean), with an understanding of secure and responsible AI adoption.
• Ability to build and communicate a strategic roadmap for a tool or portfolio, and to translate business workflow challenges into effective technical solutions.
• Familiarity with software licensing, procurement, and vendor management (a plus).
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a rapidly scaling organization.
• A desire to mentor others and contribute to a positive team culture.
Success in this role looks like:
• Your assigned tools are configured, maintained, and operating reliably, meeting team standards for uptime, security posture, and employee adoption.
• Each tool you own has a documented roadmap aligned with company needs and vendor direction.
• Licenses, renewals, and provisioning are managed efficiently, with clear ownership and no grey zones between IT and the business.
• Integrations and configurations are documented and follow consistent standards.
• AI features and automations in your area are rolled out securely and adopted, with measurable reductions in manual effort.
• Partners across IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and the business see you as a trusted, responsive point of contact.
What you can expect:
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of an assigned portfolio of Tier 1 tools (e.g., Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, Notion, Jira, Asana, Freshservice), including administration, configuration, support, and documentation.
• Develop and maintain strategic roadmaps for your tools, balancing near-term priorities with long-term direction and staying current on vendor roadmaps. Contribute to the team's overall roadmap.
• Manage SSO and SCIM provisioning through Okta, and support access controls, access reviews, and application onboarding and offboarding.
• Implement and maintain configuration standards and governance (e.g., feature enablement, retention policies, compliance guardrails), balancing enterprise-wide consistency with business unit needs.
• Support license management, cost projections, renewals, and vendor relationships, partnering with Finance, Legal, and Procurement.
• Assess new application requests against the team's tiering criteria (adoption scope, security sensitivity, integration complexity, and contract value), and confirm responsibilities with business teams before onboarding or procurement proceeds.
• Design, build, and maintain integrations between enterprise applications using APIs, Tines, Okta Workflows, and other tooling.
• Configure and operate AI features and platforms (e.g., OpenAI Enterprise, Dust, and AI capabilities within Slack, Notion, and Google Workspace), ensuring secure, responsible, and well-supported usage.
• Build and maintain AI-powered workflows and automations that reduce manual effort and streamline operations across teams.
• Contribute technical analysis and recommendations when evaluating new tools and AI capabilities, covering security, privacy, compliance, and fit.
• Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for tool configurations, integrations, and AI and automation usage.
• Provide technical guidance to help employees adopt centralized tools and AI capabilities, in coordination with the AI Working Group and Enterprise L&D.
• Mentor teammates and share knowledge to help build a collaborative, focused, and impactful team.

How we work with AI
We are committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology—including AI—to achieve our mission.
